How far into the hitch should I insert the square hitch connection tube?

There are multiple holes cut in the square tube hitch connection for the ZeroWobble+ Hitch Mount. These are so you can adjust the distance between the bike and the vehicle. The weight limits are based on the outer-most position so it's OK to use whichever hole gives a comfortable amount of clearance to the back of the vehicle.

On MTX carriers (Max+, Max, Sport, m3), the distance from the hitch pin to the center of the bike track (trough, channel, platform) is 20 inches and can be adjusted to 18 or 16 inches. If you need more clearance from the vehicle you can use the Extended Hitch Connection https://mototote.com/products/mtx20-extended-hitch-connection which provides an additional 11” distance from the vehicle. Works for larger spare tires and RVs with recessed hitches under the bumper. Places platform from 18”-31” from the vehicle. Adjustable in 2” increments. The Extended Hitch Connection works only on MTX carriers and not MTM Mini's.

On MTM Mini bike racks, the distance from the hitch pin to the center of the bike track (trough, channel, platform) is 16 inches and can be adjusted inward to 14.50, 13, or 11.50 inches.
